Bitly vs Rebrandly vs TinyURL in 2026: I Used All Three for 90 Days So You Don’t Have To

by Admin

There's no shortage of URL shortener comparisons on the internet. Most of them were written once, never updated, and use affiliate disclosure text that makes it very clear which platform is "winning."

I ran Bitly, Rebrandly, and TinyURL simultaneously across real campaigns for 90 days. Here's the honest version.

Setup Experience

Bitly is the smoothest onboarding. You're creating short links within two minutes. Custom domain setup took about 20 minutes including DNS propagation time.

Rebrandly took longer — maybe 45 minutes to get the custom .xyz domain properly connected. Once set up, it's genuinely pleasant to use.

TinyURL is the fastest setup because there's barely any setup. But the trade-off is it's also the most limited.

Analytics: Where Things Get Real

Bitly: solid fundamentals — total clicks, referrer data, geographic breakdown. The free tier's analytics are limited to 30 days, which is a frustration if you're comparing performance quarter-over-quarter.

Rebrandly: real-time click data, full funnel reporting, clean data exports. For a 90-day campaign, having access to the full historical dataset was genuinely useful.

TinyURL Pro: analytics work, they're basic, if your needs are simple they're fine.

My Actual Recommendation

  • Solo creator or small team: Bitly Growth
  • Branded campaigns at scale: Rebrandly
  • Quick links, no overhead: TinyURL Pro
  • Full control, own your data: YOURLS self-hosted
